Just a Regular Day under Pressure

" target=_top>

Morning, morning ... we’re getting up late this morning ... actually was up much earlier, but fell back to sleep. Need all that beauty stuff you can get :)

We’re sorry if we over did it on the last couple of entries. Just we’d been working on her for most of Sunday and wanted to record her for posterity. Hehe, mostly what we got out of the end result was that it looked kinda pretty :)

Yesterday, we continued the long days at work after having been to Dr M.’s. Not sure how well that visit went. We know as has been of late, most of the time was split between Casie and Annemarie. Casie conveyed something about not getting a visit from the Easter Bunny, but Dr. M. Was quick to mention something about Walgreens usually having after holiday sales. Pretty good deal there!

Annemarie seemed more talkative, but we aren’t picking up in our memory what’s she been saying. I wish I could explain better how these things happen. Not sure what her conversations were about. Maybe something on ... let me think hard here ... hmm, just something about Casey going to Annemarie’s corner. Best I can do ... maybe something more clear over the next couple of days. These things are likely to be talked over within the system.

Work was pretty much a standard moderate day. We worked the very last part of it with assistance. Anna stopped in through an IM and we talked of stuff including the work I was working on. If you haven’t met her yet, stop in her place and visit, she is really a bright and delightful young person! We’re worrying over her a bit, because she seems to be developing her own case of multiple personalities. Hehe

Let’s see ... anything else more significant? Not so sure here. There was one problem indirectly first thing in the morning. The one DSP that we didn’t think was doing so much work had a client that left the program. We don’t usually have people who leave.

This individual wasn’t one of our clients and we’d been sick last year at the time of her intake, so we really didn’t know the parents well, or what their expectations were. Seems that they thought that we could teach her how to toilet in the six months she was here, although this hadn’t happened yet in her first 21 years. I’m sure it gets a little messier than this, but we’re watching our own frustration with staff problems.

All in all, we think it is none too late to be getting the resources we’ve been working on over the weekend. Copies were given to Sr. Tess and our friend, but we were short staffed yesterday and with CARF on the table, Sr. Said something about talking to us later. The friend was more immediately negative. But, we’re going to not let him rain on our parade.

He’s worrying about "keeping the money for us." But, this is more FOR us than can be imagined. We know, he knows and she knows ... that all of us as staff have a lot to be working on and if they will just open their minds to learning, the knowledge will be worth every penny as an organization and as caring people.

We really had a wonderful time looking for just the right books.  Don't think a lot of the AAMR site for giving a great amount of information on their books, but many of the Amazon books you can look into more closely before choosing.  And I just loved the Brookes site.  It is new to us.

Brookes gave a good description of the book, the table of contents, and for most their books you can read an exerpt of one of the chapters.  Still think the search engine on Amazon cannot be beat, though we thought Brookes was pretty competitively priced with more variety on developmental disabilities than we'd ever found before.  About 285 books all told, most current and all scholarly!

Hmm, that’s about it. We have to decide this morning if we should bounce back into the Qnotes, or if maybe we shouldn’t concentrate on a few of those piles that have built up on our desk. Some of it depends on energy. The Qnotes would be more sedentary than moving around depositing the paperwork from back end of the building to front.

Sometimes we find though to think more clearly, we need to first do some spring housecleaning. Maybe you all know this already though? :) It’s off then to the races! Take care of your all days!!
